The golf course was the reclamation of a decades-old sand mining operation. Working closely with Maryland Department of the Environment, sensitive environmental areas were protected and preserved. Several hundred new trees were brought to the site and hundreds more were transplanted along the fairways during construction. The Interstate Mining Compact Commission was impressed enough to award Renditions the “National Reclamation of the Year” award for 2004.
